Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday said the state government is making continuous efforts to promote the cultural heritage of Kurukshetra across the globe.

The CM was in Kurukshetra to attend the Maha Aarti at Brahma Sarovar along with 27 delegates from 13 countries, who are participating in the 36th International Training Programme in Legislative Drafting. Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan also joined the event.

Speaking to the media, CM Saini said, “Various programmes like the International Gita Mahotsav are organised in Kurukshetra and even in foreign countries to spread the teachings of the Gita. The delegates from 13 countries have visited Kurukshetra today. It will also help in spreading information about Kurukshetra in their respective countries and boost tourism here.”

He said the delegation has been visiting different parts of Haryana for the past four days. “They have discussed all important aspects of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha, Punjab and Haryana High Court, and other key institutions,” the CM said.

Referring to recent fire and storm incidents in the state, the CM said: “Officials have been directed to assess the damage and submit a report immediately. They have also been asked to determine the cause of the fire. Further decisions will be taken based on the report.”

Later, the CM accompanied the delegation to Jyotisar Tirtha, where they watched a light and sound show depicting episodes from the Mahabharata.

The delegation, which includes representatives from Côte d’Ivoire, Ecuador, Honduras, Guatemala, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Myanmar, Niger, Nigeria, Maldives, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, also visited Dharohar Museum at Kurukshetra University, the Sheikh Chilli Tomb, and the Gita Gyan Sansthanam.

Also present on the occasion were Madan Mohan Chhabra, chairman of the 48-kos Tirtha Monitoring Committee, former Minister of State Subhash Sudha, and several district-level officials.
