Govt providing free CT scan, Rs 2.2K aid to AIDS patients, says Arti Rao
Haryana Health Minister Arti Singh Rao said the state government was working towards an AIDS-free future. In line with this objective, the state government was providing free CT scans and MRI facilities to AIDS patients, in addition to offering monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,250 to 11,325 patients.
The Health Minister said this while addressing the state-level World AIDS Day event organised by the Haryana State AIDS Control Society at Gurugram University. She also flagged off awareness vehicles from the event venue.
During the event, the Health Minister praised the exhibition showcasing medical services. She said the state government was committed to eradicating AIDS from the state.
Free testing and treatment for AIDS were available through government initiatives, and the confidentiality of patient information was maintained at all times, she said.
She urged the youth to be aware and to stay informed about preventive measures against such diseases, while also encouraging them to spread awareness among others. She further stated that ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers are the backbone of this fight, and without them, ground-level changes in the fight against this disease would not be possible.
Gurugram MLA Mukesh Sharma said the involvement of elected representatives and the use of educational institutions for street plays in villages and cities would help raise awareness. He also called for making sports a part of daily life, stating that those who played sports tended to be more health-conscious.
Health Director-General Dr Manish Bansal said awareness was key to preventing AIDS.
The state government is providing medication to AIDS patients across the state, which is enhancing their ability to fight the disease and improve their lifespan.
