Govt school star Arpandeep tops Haryana Board Class XII exams
Arpandeep Singh, a student of Government Senior Secondary School, Seon Majra in Kaithal district, has topped the Haryana Board Class XII exams in the commerce stream, securing 497 out of 500 marks. A resident of Kheri Daban village, Arpandeep’s achievement has brought immense pride to his family, teachers, and community.
Speaking about his success, Arpandeep said, “I used to revise everything taught at school once I returned home. I would study thoroughly, understand the concepts, and clear all my doubts by asking my teachers, who were always there to guide and support me.”
His dream is to become a chartered accountant, and he is determined to continue working hard to achieve this goal. Despite his academic focus, he makes time for movies and games in his free time.
Coming from a modest background — his father Yadvinder Singh is a farmer, and his mother Ramandeep Kaur runs a boutique — Arpandeep emphasised the role of family in his journey. “My family always stood by me and encouraged me to pursue what I love. Their support has helped me reach this milestone,” he said.
He also made a strong case for staying in India for higher education. “There is a trend of going abroad for studies, but we must break that trend. We can study here and achieve great things in our own country,” he said.
Arpandeep praised the standard of education in government schools, dismissing common stereotypes. “Teachers in government schools are excellent. Classes are held as per the timetable, and no class is ever missed. The environment is very good for learning,” he added.
Charanjeet Kaur, principal of the school, called Arpandeep’s result a testament to the improving image of government schools. “There is a mindset that government schools do not provide quality education, but Arpandeep has proved this wrong without any coaching. All his subjects were covered at school itself,” she said.
The principal lauded the state’s efforts to upgrade schools and praised the dedication of the staff. “He has always been a respectful and hardworking student. His success is a proud moment for all of us,” she added.
His parents expressed gratitude to the teachers and pride in their son’s achievement. “We are proud of our son and thankful to the school for nurturing his talent,” they said.
