Haryana Govt to buy forest land to speed up road construction: Minister
Kulwinder Sandhu
Gurugram, July 5
Haryana Forest and Environment Minister Sanjay Singh has announced that the state government would purchase land from the Forest Department to do away with the need of no-objection certificates (NoCs) and consequently speed up the construction of roads in the state.
He was responding to a complaint against the dilly-dallying attitude of the government in the constitution of a road in Sohna during a ‘public darbar’ held in the subdivision on Friday.
Orders resumption of bus service
- Over 50 complaints were resolved on the spot during the minister’s ‘public darbar’ at Sohna subdivision.
- He directed local officials to begin the construction of a community centre at Mahinderwara village.
- He asked the SDM to improve the Sohna Municipal Council’s functioning, and get drains & rain harvesting systems cleaned at the earliest.
- The minister also asked the local administration to restart the Ballabhgarh-Gurugram bus service from tomorrow.
Presently, if a road passes through any forest land, the department constructing the road needs to obtain a no-objection certificate from the Forest Department to begin construction. Sometimes, it takes months to get these NoCs, which delays the road projects.
The minister said the purchase of the requisite land would help the authorities in completing road projects in time. After the construction, these lands would be transferred to the departments responsible for the maintenance of these roads.
Meanwhile, the minister also directed local officials to begin the construction of a community centre at Mahinderwara village and find out why the contractor was delaying the work.
He also asked SDM Sonu Bhatt to improve the functioning of the Sohna Municipal Council. He further told the SDM to get the drains and rain harvesting systems cleaned at the earliest, as he received a number of complaints regarding waterlogging on roads and in low-lying areas. He also asked the local administration to restart the Ballabhgarh-Gurugram bus service from tomorrow.
