After the meeting, Rana said approval had been granted to procure 75,000 packets of Pusa Decomposer Wettable Powder. These will be distributed to farmers free of cost. Based on one packet per acre, the first phase will help manage crop residue across 75,000 acres of paddy fields in the state.

Rana noted that the initiative would substantially reduce stubble-burning incidents and improve soil health, thereby increasing farmers’ income. He said the technology is currently being implemented for demonstration purposes, and its wider rollout will be decided after reviewing results next year.

He explained that the powder breaks down stubble, vegetable residues and other agricultural waste within days, converting them into high-quality compost. The process enriches the soil and increases its organic carbon content.

The minister further stated that the powder also acts as a plant protection agent, helping control fungal diseases and soil-borne pests. It reduces dependence on chemical fertilisers, cutting cultivation costs for farmers.
