The Haryana Government is set to enhance support for working women by constructing hostels in Faridabad and Gurugram under the Sakhi Niwas Yojana. These hostels will provide safe and affordable accommodation, with added daycare services for women with children.

Haryana Mahila Vikas Nigam is leading the initiative, which will allow women to stay with their children — boys up to 12 years old and girls up to 18 years old. Special preference will be given to women from economically weaker sections and those with disabilities.

Eligibility criteria include Haryana residency and an income limit of Rs 50,000 per month in metropolitan areas and Rs 35,000 in other locations. Women earning above these limits must vacate the hostel within three months. Applicants must provide an Aadhaar card, a police verification report, and an income certificate.

The hostels will be built on one-acre plots, each accommodating 200 women, with an estimated project cost of Rs 65.3 crore. The initiative aims to provide much-needed support to working women and single mothers across Haryana.
