The government has enhanced its “green” budget by almost 38.67% this year. The CM announced Rs 654.36 crore for Environment and Forest Department projects. The government will go for massive “Miyawaki-style” afforestation. Every district has been directed to set aside 2.5 acres for the purpose.

While the enhancement has got a thumbs up from environmentalists, they have demanded allocation to revive the Aravallis. “They are on the verge of extinction. We need to reclaim patches lost to mining or encroachment and constitute a special task force to keep a check on non-forest activities,” said environmentalist Vaishali Rana Chandra.
