To mark World Environment Day, Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, organised a tree plantation drive on its campus on Thursday.

Organised by the Environment Sustainability Cell (ESM) and the Horticulture Wing, the event included the planting of saplings such as Arjun, Kusum and Simal — symbolising a renewed commitment to environmental protection.

University officials, faculty members, students and staff actively participated in the plantation drive, and took a pledge to conserve the environment.

The event reflected collective action toward a greener and more sustainable future.

Dean (Academic Affairs) AS Mann said environmental conservation was not just a “one-day responsibility”, but a continuous process that required the participation of every section of society.

He encouraged students to take a pledge to prevent water, air and land pollution.

Vinita Hooda, Coordinator, ESM Cell and Director (Horticulture), highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and encouraged students to become vigilant protectors of the environment, promoting awareness in society.

Harish Kumar, Head of Department (journalism and mass communication), underscored the critical need for environmental conservation in today’s world.
