The crime was perpetrated around 6 am when the owner of ‘Sitaram Sweets’ reached the shop.

Accused threw stone with extortion note

As soon as I opened the shutter, a Scorpio car came. I thought it must be a customer but those sitting inside fired two shots at the shop. They also threw a stone with a slip, on which it was written that a sum of Rs 1 crore should be arranged, otherwise the shop owner would be killed. — Sunil, Shop owner

“As soon as I opened the shutter of the shop, a Scorpio car came. I thought it must be a customer but those sitting inside fired two shots at the shop. They also threw a stone with a slip, on which it had been written that an arrangement of Rs 1 crore should be made, otherwise the shop owner would be killed. The name of the notorious Bhau gang was also mentioned on the slip,” said Sunil, the shop owner.

Meanwhile, Rajeev Jain, former media advisor to the CM and national vice-president of Udhyog Beopar Mandal, reached the spot and spoke to Home Minister Anil Vij over the phone in this regard. “The Home Minister spoke to the shopkeeper and assured him that the accused would be nabbed at the earliest,” said Jain.

Inspector Sulender, SHO, Police Station Sampla, told The Tribune that a case under Arms Act and Sections 307, 387 and 506 of the IPC had been booked against two unidentified persons on the complaint of the shop owner.

Efforts are on to identify the accused, he added.
