The Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) has sought a mutual transfer of employees belonging to Haryana and Punjab between the HSGMC and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).

HSGMC chief Jagdish Singh Jhinda today said, “Earlier, the shrines in Haryana and Punjab were under the control of the SGPC and employees were also hired by the SGPC. A number of people belonging to Haryana are still working for the SGPC in Punjab, and after the HSGMC was formed, they have been facing issues there. We have been getting requests from them that they want to join the HSGMC. Similarly, a number of people belonging to Punjab have been working here under the HSGMC in Haryana.”

“We have decided to hold a meeting with the SGPC chief to get the mutual transfer of such employees so that the continuity and seniority of such employees are not affected. In the current situation, the employees have to resign from their current position and then seek job, but it will create issues for them as well as for the committees. After the resignation, the posts will fall vacant, and then, there will be a large number of people in the queue for those posts," he added.

The HSGMC chief said the employees were working in different positions, including managers, clerks, sewadars and ragis. “We have started preparing a list of such employees in Haryana who belong to Punjab, and the HSGMC will request the SGPC to share a similar list of Haryana’s people in Punjab, and initiate further process for mutual transfer,” he said.

Earlier, Jhinda had requested SGPC chief Harjinder Singh Dhami for a piece of land to build a serai for the pilgrims of Haryana, who visit the Golden Temple.
