Gurugram ‘bookie’ gunned down in Rohtak

Gurugram-based trader Sachin Goda was gunned down by unknown car-borne assailants near Lakhan Majra town in Rohtak district late on Thursday night.
13 IPS, 5 HPS officers transferred
Chandigarh: The Haryana Government has transferred 13 IPS and five HPS officers with immediate effect. IPS officer Alok Kumar Roy has been posted as DGP, HR and Litigation, while Sanjeev Kumar Jain has been transferred as DGP, Haryana Human Rights Commission.
Sachin’s mother Darshana Devi, who tried to save him during the attack, received bullet injury on her leg. In a complaint lodged with the police, Darshana said she along with her family, including Sachin, daughter-in-law and two grandsons, was going to Sangrur to attend a wedding on Thursday night.
“We stopped at a hotel on the way to have food. However, when we came out of the hotel, two or three youths came in a white car and started firing at Sachin. I also received a bullet injury on my left leg as I tried to save my son. The assailants took Sachin’s mobile phone and fled,” she said. The police have registered an FIR against unknown persons. Meanwhile, Rohit Godara, who claims to be a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, took responsibility for the murder.
In a social media post, the gangster maintained that Goda considered himself to be the “biggest bookie of Delhi”. “He was a partner of our rivals Kaushal Chaudhary and Amit Dagar. We take full responsibility for his murder,” posted Godara.
According to police sources, Sachin, along with eight other persons, was booked and arrested in connection with a betting racket in Rohtak during an international cricket match in October 2023.
Rohtak SP Himanshu Garg could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
District police spokesman Sunny Laura said the claims regarding murder responsibility was yet to be verified.
