According to the complaint, the 42-year-old woman got in touch with Mr Rao Conti Donald on January 4 this year through the matrimonial website, jeevensaathi.com.
Donald texted her on WhatsApp, saying that he is an American, and living in Colombia. He added that he was interested in her profile which he came across on the website, and wanted to get married.
“I accepted the proposal. We shared a lot about each other, and he told me soon he will be in India. Till March 11, we had normal conversations, and he talked about opening a factory in Nepal, and that he needs Rs 1, 10,000 immediately, and that he will transfer 10000 USD within six days. I blindly trusted him, but I never received the amount. Then, on different occasions, he took around Rs 9 lakhs.
