Gurugram, July 30

A city resident working as HR manager with a private company was allegedly duped of Rs 15 lakhs by a man after befriending her through a dating app.

The accused allegedly took Rs 18 lakh loan through an online app in the name of woman and later not only stopped paying the loan installment but even blocked her mobile number. An FIR has been registered at Sushant Lok police station.

In a complaint, the Sector 42 resident said she is working as HR manager with a private company and came in touch with the accused Arsh Singh alias Utkarsh, a resident of Jawahar colony, Faridabad, in December last through Tinder dating app.

The woman in her comlpaint said, “He claimed that he was working with Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and also introduced his mother Nidhi Singh as an Indian Air Force officer. Soon we became good friends and he promised to marry me. I trusted him and shared all of my bank account and internet banking passwords. Taking advantage of my trust, he applied for loan in my name through different online apps. When I got messages regarding loan, I questioned him. He did to give proper reply and said we are together and will stay together.”

The complaint alleged the accused took Rs 18 lakh loan gradually without her consent from different online app in her my name and transferred all the money in his account.

“Initially, he paid EMIs regularly for Rs 3 lakh, but later stopped all the communication and also stopped paying the remaining loan. He duped me on pretext of marriage,” the woman added in her complaint.

Following the complaint an FIR has been registered against the accused under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC at Sushant Lok police station.

“As per the complaint an FIR has been registered and we are verifying the facts. The accused will be nabbed soon,” said SHO Poonam Hooda.
