In response to the rising number of stray animals in the city—particularly stray cattle, dogs and monkeys—the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram has released a dedicated animal helpline number, 98213-95178, to ensure prompt action. Citizens can report any animal-related issue directly on this number.
According to Dr Preetpal Singh, Joint Commissioner (SBM), Municipal Corporation of Gurugram, the movement of stray animals in several key areas of the city leads to problems such as traffic disruptions, increased risk of accidents, garbage scattering and a sense of insecurity among residents. To address these concerns, the MC has established a dedicated control and response system.
Once a complaint is registered via the helpline, a municipal team is immediately dispatched to the location to shift the animal to a safe place, control it or take any other necessary action. The MC stated that with citizens’ cooperation, the city can be made safer and more orderly.
To effectively monitor and coordinate the initiative, the Municipal Corporation has appointed Junior Engineer Hariom as the nodal officer. He can be contacted directly on 94684-84840. He will oversee the redressal of animal-related complaints and ensure timely action.
The Municipal Corporation has appealed to Gurugram residents to report any such issues directly to the helpline or control room rather than sharing videos or photographs on social media, so that immediate relief measures can be taken.
