“Gurugram is mother of all corruption in Haryana. Everybody wants posting here to loot public and make money. I am approached everyday by people seeking postings here. Many people say that it’s their last year of service and they want to retire from Gurugram. In police, everybody wants to be posted in a police station before retirement and Sector 29 is the most sought after. I have to turn all of them away as I will not allow anybody to rob Gurugram any further,” said Narbir.

“I had took a meeting of all departments and warned everybody that whosoever was here just to earn through corruption should get themselves transferred before Diwali. Some of them did, but many were still there and now, I am preparing a list and you will see a major reshuffle. Gurugram is face of Haryana and contributes 70 per cent of revenue. We cannot have it be converted into a corruption hub,” added Narbir.

Hinting at political patronage to corrupt officials, Narbir said that when he tried to penalise these officers, he found them all well connected.

To the local residents’ complaint of slackness in execution of various works in majority of the departments, especially MC, Narbir said that due to an impeding transfer list, majority of the officials were not sure of their posting and so they were not too involved in work. “We are waiting for a major reshuffle and no officer knows whether he will stay or not, so many are working slow,” concluded Narbir.
