If trends and data collected during the ongoing Samadhan Shivir in Gurugram are anything to go by, the Municipal Corporation has recorded maximum number of public grievances with several complaints remaining resolved.

The administration has identified 10 key departments where public grievances remain unresolved and has written them to work on improvement.

Officials told to redress plaints at the earliest

According to the data, 1,458 complaints have been received at Samadhan Shivirs so far, with 842 resolved and 616 pending. Out of these, 336 complaints pertained to the MCG. Officials have managed to resolve only 101 complaints with 235 pending. Majority complaints pertain to lapses in property IDs and regarding sanitation woes. This is followed by the Revenue Department, which has around 100 complaints, of which 88 have been resolved.

The DCP (Headquarters) office stands at the third position, where 90 complaints were reported. Majority pertained to non-registration of FIR or no action post FIR and only 51 complaints were resolved. The District Panchayat Development Department has recorded 71 complaints, of which 46 have been resolved. Sixty-five complaints pertained to DHBVN, with majority from builder colonies and 32 of these have been resolved. The HSVP has received 61 complaints and 35 have been resolved.

The Town and Country Planning Department has got 60 complaints, of which 42 have been resolved. Interestingly. SDM offices in Pataudi and Sohna have received 22 and 19 complaints, respectively, and none has been resolved so far.

“We have called senior officials of these 10 departments and asked them to take up public grievance redressal at the earliest. The departments claim that some issues are subjudice. Still, the nature of complaints being received in Samadhan Shivirs highlight that these could have easily been resolved at the department level. Many complaints are pending for years. We have asked all these departments to revamp their redressal system and if required increase public meeting time,” said DC Nishant Yadav.

A special note has been sent to the MCG to resolve the sanitation complaints within 24 hours, so that the applicants don’t have to approach Shivirs.

It may be noted that as the alleged indifference of state government toward poor grievance redressal system in many districts proved costly in the Lok Sabha election, the state government had launched Samadhan shivirs on June 11. Under the system, senior officials of various departments get together at one spot and resolve pending complaints. In Gurugram, around 60 per cent of the complaints received so far have been resolved.
