Gurugram Sector 55 RWA raises issue of illegal waste dumping in vacant plot
The residents of Sector 55, Gurugram, have lodged a complaint regarding illegal dumping of construction and demolition (C&D) waste and domestic garbage at a vacant plot near Tagore Public School along Rajesh Pilot Road and Golf Course Road.
A delegation of the local residents’ welfare association (RWA), led by president Satya Pal Kamboj, met MC Additional Commissioner Mahavir Prasad at a Samadhan Shivir organised by the civic body and apprised him of the problem on Wednesday.
After listening to their complaint, Prasad asked the officials concerned to ensure immediate resolution of the problem. He assured the RWA members that the MC would take strict action against the illegal dumping of debris, and appropriate measures would be implemented for garbage management.
The civic body had previously cleared garbage from the vacant plot. However, some people had begun dumping waste there again. Kamboj demanded that the MC ensure fencing of the vacant plot so as to prohibit erring persons from throwing waste in it.
He suggested that CCTV camera surveillance and the regular garbage collection system be strengthened to solve the problem permanently.
The RWA demanded that strict penalties be imposed on those involved in the illegal dumping of debris.
“I will deploy special teams to maintain cleanliness in the area,” Prasad told the delegation. Later, the delegation met MC Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg, who assured them that he would visit the site and stop the dumping of waste.
