Karnal, July 3
Mukti, aged 29, a mandi supervisor posted at the Taraori grain market and wife of a naib tehsildar posted in Badhra, allegedly committed suicide at her government quarter in Taraori late on Saturday night. She hanged herself from a ceiling fan.
The woman left behind a suicide note, blaming her husband and others for forcing her to take the extreme step. The police have registered a case against seven persons, including her husband Achin, under Sections 304-B and 34 of the IPC on the complaint of Mukhti’s sister Mamta, said inspector Sandeep, SHO, Taraori.
Mukti, a resident of Dhanana village in Bhiwani district, got married to Achin of Kalta village in Jind district more than a year ago, Mamata told the police. She alleged that her sister was harassed since the first day she got married on account of dowry or other reasons.
“We have several audios in which Mukti was saying she was being harassed,” she added. Achin is posted in Badhra and these days is on leave, said the SHO. Mamata and her family members demanded the arrest of the accused.
