Haryana BJP MPs have lashed out at former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his allegations that Haryana is sending “poisonous” water into the Yamuna, calling the accusations baseless and misleading. The MPs demanded a public apology from Kejriwal and warned of legal action if he failed to retract his statements.

At a joint press conference in Delhi on Tuesday, Bhiwani-Mahendragarh MP Dharambir Singh, Rajya Sabha MPs Ram Chander Jangda, Kiran Choudhary, Rekha Sharma and BJP National spokesperson Rajeev Jaitley presented a detailed rebuttal. They emphasised that Haryana supplies clean water to Delhi, contrary to Kejriwal’s claims.

“For the past few days, Kejriwal’s statements have been troubling even the people of Haryana,” said Dharambir Singh. “Haryana releases only 300 cusecs of water into the Yamuna to prevent it from drying up, as per the Supreme Court’s order. This water is clean and supplied to Delhi through the ‘West Yamuna Canal,’ which is fully cemented. The water is treated before being sent to Delhi.”

Singh further highlighted that Haryana provides over 10,000 cusecs of water to Delhi even during shortages. “No sewage is mixed with this water,” he added.

Kiran Choudhary criticised Kejriwal for blaming Haryana while ignoring Delhi’s failures. “It is surprising to hear Kejriwal claim ‘water terrorism.’ The water Haryana provides is clean, but once it passes through Delhi, sewage and pollutants are added to it. Kejriwal promised to clean the Yamuna, but the river still has poisonous foam. If all treatment plants in Delhi were functional, the people wouldn’t face these issues,” she said.

She also pointed out that water quality deteriorates after the Wazirabad barrage, which is under Delhi’s jurisdiction.

Rekha Sharma accused Kejriwal of using false accusations to deflect attention from his own shortcomings. “As elections approach, Kejriwal’s lies increase. His claims about ‘terrorism’ are just part of his desperation. After 10 years, his promises to clean Delhi and the Yamuna remain unfulfilled. Now, in a last-ditch effort, he’s making baseless accusations against Haryana,” she said.

Ram Chander Jangda also criticised Kejriwal’s leadership, stating, “Kejriwal is not a leader capable of public service. He and his party members live in luxury while making false promises. The people of Punjab and Delhi are seeing through their façade, and that’s why they’re facing inevitable defeats. Kejriwal’s mental balance seems to have slipped, which is why he’s making such statements.”

The MPs warned that if Kejriwal did not issue an apology, the Haryana Government would consider filing a defamation lawsuit. “The accusations are not just against the government but also the people of Haryana,” Dharambir Singh said. “If Kejriwal doesn’t apologise, he will face legal consequences, including charges for criminal conspiracy.”
