Haryana BJP to rope in ex-servicemen to spread awareness about Agnipath scheme

Gurugram, June 20

Out to control the damage over the Agnipath recruitment scheme, Haryana BJP will now rope in former soldiers to inform the youth about the same.

State party president OP Dhankar today convened a review meeting at the party’s Gurukamal office in the city to ponder over the recent violent protests in Haryana. Claiming that the youth were being misled by social media and rumour mongers about the scheme Dhankar

announced a major online and offline campaign to reach out to youth and ‘clarify’ the doubts. The party feels former soldiers will be best suited for the job.

“Hearing it from the horse’s mouth will clear all rumours. These soldiers have been an inspiration to youth in their respective villages and cities. They will go to each house and explain what youth stands to achieve by being an Agniveer. Their word will be impartial

and free from any political or personal motive,” said Dhankar.

Rajya Sabha MP and Lt Gen DP Vats (retd) said Agnipath was a revolutionary scheme which would take Indian defence miles ahead. “We have to match International Defence standards and having a young force is one of key requirements. It’s not just the nation who would

gain but also young men who will have better career prospects. Short Commission officers are even DCs in state so what other assurance of the future do we want. Majority of protesters are not completely privy to matters but we shall fight rumours with complete knowledge,” said Lt Gen Vats.

Sources claimed that local workers have been asked to not just tab social media and whatsapp groups for any anti-Agneepath posts but start posting pro-scheme material online.
