Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini launched three schemes for the youth on the occasion of International Youth Day in Panchkula today. He also announced an increase in unemployment allowance for Class XII pass graduate and postgraduate youth.

The Chief Minister was here to participate in an International Youth Day programme organised by the Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Department. He launched the Drone Didi Yojana, Contractor Saksham Yuva Yojana and the IT Saksham Yuva Yojana.

He said that the state had started the Drone Didi and other yojanas. “These schemes will help provide skill training to the youth. Skills are the biggest strength of the youth. The Central Government has launched Make in India, Digital India and other programmes for the youth. On the same lines, Haryana has already helped over one lakh youth in skill development under the Haryana Kaushal Vikas Mission. We have provided 1.44 lakh jobs to the youth. In the past seven months, we have provided 37,000 government jobs. The state has launched a department to help the youth make a career in foreign countries. We have also launched a start-up scheme for the youth to lauch new ventures,” he added.

Saini congratulated the youth, who had won medals in international games. He said that under the Drone Didi scheme, the government would provide training to 5,000 women in drone operation and management in 2024-25. “We will provide them 80 per cent of the estimated cost of drones and other equipment,” he added.

He launched the Contractor Saksham Yuva Yojana and said that the government would provide skill training to 10,000 engineering diploma and degree holders for three months so that they could become self-dependent. “The government will provide these youth with Rs 3 lakh interest-free loan for one year. These youth will be able to apply for government contracts of up to Rs 25 lakh of the Panchayati Raj Department,” he added.

The Chief Minister also launched the IT Saksham Yuva Yojana. “Through this scheme the government will provide IT training to graduate and postgraduate youth to help them make a career in the sector. The youth will be provided training in coding, Java language, web designing, networking and digital marketing, among others. The government will also provide employment offers to them,” he added.

He awarded one-time scholarship certificates to 20 youth out of 700 Scheduled Caste candidates, who had secured more than 90 per cent marks, for education. He also flagged-off the Skill Yatra, an initiative to inform the youth about the state’s skill development schemes.

Saini was accompanied by Panchkula MLA and Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta, Chief Minister’s Adviser Lt Gen JS Nain (retd), Panchkula Mayor Kulbhushan Goel, Panchkula BJP president Deepak Sharma and party leader Banto Kataria.

Contractor Saksham Yuva Yojana

  • The government will provide skill training to 10,000 engineering diploma and degree holders for three months so that they can become self-dependent.
  • The government will also provide these youth with ~3 lakh interest-free loan for one year
  • The youth will be able to apply for government contracts of up to the value of ~25 lakh of the state Panchayati Raj Department

IT Saksham Yuva Yojana

  • Through this scheme the state government will provide IT training to graduate and postgraduate youth to help them make a career in the sector
  • The youth will be provided training in coding, Java language, web designing, networking and digital marketing, among others
  • The government will also provide employment offers to the youth

Drone Didi Yojana

  • Under the Drone Didi scheme, the state government will provide training to 5,000 young women in drone operation and management in 2024-25
  • The government will provide them 80 per cent of the cost of drones and other equipment

Unemployment grant hiked

  • The Chief Minister announced an increase in the unemployment allowance for Class XII pass youth from ~900 per month to ~1,200 from August 1
  • The unemployment grant for the graduate youth has been increased to ~2,000 per month and for the postgraduate youth to ~3,500 per month
  • The government will provide such grants to 2.61 lakh youth
