Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini extended heartfelt congratulations to the Indian women’s cricket team for winning the ICC Women’s World Cup. He said that the country’s daughters have brought immense pride to India on the international stage, and this historic achievement is a moment of great honour for the entire nation.
The Chief Minister said that Haryana’s daughter Shafali Verma, who was part of the team, delivered an outstanding performance in the final match and was adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’. Shafali (21) played a decisive innings, scoring 87 runs, and also took two wickets, playing a vital role in securing India’s 52-run victory over South Africa in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup final in Navi Mumbai on Sunday.
The CM said that Shafali’s exceptional performance symbolises the talent, dedication and determination of Haryana’s daughters and is a matter of immense pride for the entire state. He added that Haryana’s daughters continue to bring glory to the nation in various sports and serve as an inspiration for generations to come.
He said the state government is consistently making efforts to promote sports and recognise the achievements of athletes across Haryana.
