'Uncomfortable' questions

Ambala: The questions on inordinate delay in the appointment of Leader of Opposition and the absence of party organisation in Haryana continue to follow Congress leaders. Though the Congress has launched a Samvidhan Bachao Abhiyan to corner the BJP, the issues of LoP and organisation structure always remain in spotlight. During a media briefing in Ambala recently, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Udai Bhan was faced with uncomfortable questions on the two issues. In reply, Udai Bhan said while the decision on Leader of Opposition was to the taken by the party high command, he expressed confidence that the party organisation up to the booth level will be ready this year.

Problem of 'proxy'

Gurugram: After the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram withdrew appointment of the Mayor's husband as an adviser to her, corporations across the state are flooded with similar complaints. Though not officially appointed, many women mayors and councillors are being proxied by their husbands or other male relatives. Residents and the opposition have called, Haryana a living portrait of the famous OTT series, Panchayat, and have asked Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to intervene.

Race for V-C posts hots up

Rohtak: A number of retired and serving professors of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, have entered the race for the Vice-Chancellor's posts in seven government universities in the state. The applications for these coveted posts were invited recently. Interestingly, some of the professors have been vying for these roles for years, and this time, there is renewed optimism about their chances. The selection process is being closely watched across the academic community, as the competition is expected to be intense.

Karnal MLA's 'chai pe action'

Karnal: MLA Jagmohan Anand was in action mode during his weekly ‘Chai Pe Charcha’ here on Sunday. Soon after listening to grievances of residents, the Karnal MLA immediately called up officials concerned to resolve issues without delay. “Work must be done on time and with accountability—no negligence will be tolerated,” he warned. When Ward-7 Councillor Joginder Sharma highlighted the problem of leftover construction material not being cleared after the completion of municipal work, MLA Anand warned the contractor, directing him to immediately remove the debris or face strict action.
