Haryana diary: Janta Darbar last resort for complainants
Ambala: Despite the availability of platforms like Samadhan Shivirs and grievance redressal committee meetings, Janta Darbar, held by Cabinet Minister Anil Vij, remains the last resort for complainants in Ambala Cantonment. Though the minister now limits hearing complaints from other Assembly constituencies, complainants from across districts still flock to the Darbar, urging its extension statewide for more effective
grievance redressal.
Officers’ absence irks minister
Rohtak: The repeated absence of heads of local offices from the district public grievances redressal committee meeting left Development and Panchayat Minister Krishan Lal Panwar infuriated. This marked the second consecutive time officials skipped the meeting. Taking serious note, the minister directed the issuance of show-cause notices to the absentees. An official claimed some officers deliberately skip such meetings to evade their responsibilities.
Community functions turn political showgrounds
Faridabad: The recent three-day Mahotsav held by a prominent community at Surajkund doubled as a stage for political muscle-flexing. While organisers claimed it was a cultural and social gathering, the event saw MLAs and ministers leveraging the platform for publicity, given the large turnout from across the district and state.
NDRI gate reopening fuels credit war
Karnal: The December 20 reopening of the NDRI premises has sparked a political tug-of-war. BJP MLA Jagmohan Anand credited BJP leaders, including Union Ministers Manohar Lal Khattar and Shivraj Singh Chouhan, for the achievement, while Congress leaders Jaipal Mann and Gurvinder Kaur claimed their protests and dialogue were pivotal. Both parties continue to exchange barbs over the issue.
Former MP Kuldeep Bishnoi still influential
Hisar: The cancellation of a transfer order in Adampur Assembly constituency at the behest of former Hisar MP Kuldeep Bishnoi has highlighted his enduring influence within the BJP government. Though PWD Minister Ranbir Gangwa managed to transfer another officer of his choice to Adampur, Bishnoi’s intervention in cancelling the earlier transfer reflects his significant clout, despite the Bhajan Lal family’s recent electoral loss in Adampur.
