BJP MP’s remarks draw attention

Rohtak: Rajya Sabha MP Ram Chander Jangra raked up the issue of losses to public and private property during the agitations of 1990 and 2016 over reservation, drawing widespread attention and mixed reactions. He made the remarks while addressing a gathering at the Vishwakarma Jayanti Samaroh, which was held in the presence of CM Nayab Singh Saini. Jangra’s statement quickly became the talk of the town. Some criticised the intent of raising such a contentious issue from a public forum.

Rare praise for Yamunanagar police

Yamunanagar: Usually in the line of fire, the Yamunanagar police are in for rare praise. Residents have welcomed the strict action taken against hardcore criminals. On Friday night, a gang member who had opened fire on a showroom in Model Town was killed in a crossfire with the police. Some alleged criminals have been killed in police action in the past few months. Residents believe such action is the need of the hour to instill fear in criminals and win condifence of the people on law and order.

Frantic search for 'deleted' video

Gurugram: High drama prevailed in a recent public meeting of a state minister in south Haryana. Bragging about his influence, the minister said when the party chose to overlook him for ticket in one of the elections he made an independent candidate win. The statement led to panic in his media management team that went around asking people to shut their mobile phones. The minister's PSOs deleted all videos they could find. However, his rivals within the party are desperately searching for the video.

Politics over DJ in Dussehra

Panipat: The use of DJs on Dussehra by 'Hanuman Sabhas' has pitted ruling party leaders against each other in Panipat. Seeking a ban on DJs during the festival, some religious organisations, a BJP councillor and some party office-bearers recently met with Deputy Commissioner Dr Virender Kumar Dahiya and MC Commissioner Pankaj Yadav. On the other hand, some ruling party leaders, including City MLA Pramod Vij, and some social organisations have come out in support of Hanuman Sabhas here. The district administration will now try to find a middle path.

Credit war in BJP over streetlights

Ambala: A credit war has erupted within the BJP over the installation of streetlights in Ambala City. Recently, the long-pending work to install the street lights started under the Ambala MC. Mayor Shailja Sachdeva's video message regarding the installation however didn’t go well with supporters. Deputy Mayor Rajesh Mehta and former BJP MLA Aseem Goel issued statements asking the Mayor to give the credit to the former MLA for getting the streetlights installed.

Karnal MLA’s video sparks row

Karnal: A video of Karnal BJP MLA has triggered a controversy. The video purportedly shows the MLA asking a person, who was given ticket by the Congress in the councillors' election, whether he had taken money or not for withdrawing his nomination. The Congress seized the opportunity to launch a sharp attack on the BJP. Local Congress leaders said the video proved that the election was influenced by money power and described it as a “murder of democracy.”
