Faridabad: Candidates affiliated with the ruling party are actively lobbying for the Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor posts in the Municipal Corporation Faridabad. While the Mayor is elected directly, these positions will be filled through party selection. With a majority expected, the ruling party is set to finalise its choices soon. The newly renovated offices are ready.

Yamunanagar: With vote counting scheduled for March 12, candidates from Municipal Corporation Yamunanagar-Jagadhri and Municipal Committee Radaur are busy speculating on their chances. Each contestant believes in his/her victory, but political experts suggest the real picture will emerge only when the final votes are tallied. The anticipation is high across all constituencies.
BJP’s strong push in Panipat
Panipat: The ruling BJP campaigned aggressively in the MC elections, with top leaders, including CM Nayab Singh Saini and ex-CM Manohar Lal Khattar, rallying voters. Despite their strong push, Opposition Congress struggled with booth management and campaign strategy. With March 12 results pending, speculation is rife that Congress has already conceded ground to the ruling party.
Karnal’s voter turnout drops to 48.8%
Karnal: Low voter turnout in the Karnal Municipal Corporation elections has surprised political analysts, with only 48.8% polling recorded despite intense campaigning. Factors like voter apathy, frequent elections and ward delimitation contributed to the decline. Both BJP and Congress remain optimistic, with BJP banking on development and Congress hoping for silent voter support.
Education board officials replaced
Hisar: The Haryana Government has replaced the Board of School Education Haryana’s chairperson and secretary mid-session by appointing Dr Pawan Kumar and Deepak Nagpal as chairperson and secretary, respectively. The move comes amid rampant cheating cases during matriculation and 10+2 exams. It remains to be seen whether this administrative shake-up will improve exam integrity.
