Vij gives credit to Hooda!
Ambala: After indulging in a friendly banter with former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda in the Assembly, Cabinet minister Anil Vij sarcastically gave the credit for this "change of heart" to the former CM. Vij said from 2009 to 2014, when he was the leader of the BJP legislative party, their microphones used to be turned off. They were not allowed to speak and even removed from the Assembly forcibly. This forced Vij to change himself and speak louder without a microphone. Having said that, he said he had an old friendship with Hooda and there was nothing personal with him.
New mayor, new hopes
Yamunanagar: The people of twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri have got hope of good roads from the newly elected mayor of Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri, Suman Bahamani. She inspected main roads of the twin cities recently. Besides, she took special note of potholes-riddled stretches near Gymkhana Club and Hindu Girls School in Jagadhri. During her inspection, she called officers concerned on the spot and asked them to repair those stretches immediately. As a result of her directions, the damaged stretch in front of the Gymkhana Club was repaired the next day. A local resident said now there was hope that the roads of twin cities would become pothole-free soon.
Cong leaders 'back to senses'
Gurugram: Disheartened by the poor performance in the civic polls and utter chaos in the organisational set-up, local Congress leaders, a majority of whom had shifted to the party ahead of the Assembly poll are now lining up for 'ghar wapsi' in the BJP. The leaders are shooting mails to the state party high command, highlighting how they were 'back to senses' and wanted to return unconditionally to the BJP, which has reportedly put the requests under review.
Jindal family holds sway
Hisar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend an event at Maharaja Agrasen Medical College (MAMC) in Agroha town in Hisar on Monday. His visit to the MAMC on invitation from the Jindal family is being seen as their political influence in the state. Notably, people associated with the MAMC are hopeful of the government’s approval for the proposed cancer hospital at the medical college, which has been awaiting government approval for the past three years. Though the foundation stone for the project was laid on March 6, 2022, the government is yet to clear the proposed project which is expected to incur about Rs 120 crore.
Joint swearing-in earns praise
Karnal: In a rare moment of political harmony, the Haryana Government organised a joint swearing-in ceremony for newly elected mayors, chairpersons of municipal committees, and councillors, including both party-affiliated and Independent candidates last week. The initiative was seen as an effort to bring all elected representatives on a common platform, emphasizing inclusivity in governance. Political analysts lauded the move, calling it a positive step toward respecting all elected leaders, in spite of political affiliation.
