Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda went sarcastic while responding to Union Minister and Haryana BJP’s election incharge Dharmendra Pradhan’s statement that “the BJP isn’t required to give any account to Congress for its works, and said the people of Haryana know how to settle the accounts”. While targeting Pradhan, Deepender, during his ‘Haryana Mange Hisaab’ campaign said: “Those who are saying that the BJP wouldn’t give its account, must understand that ‘ye Haryana hai Pradhan’, people of Haryana are innocent but they know how to settle the accounts, when someone cheats them”.
‘Kissa kursi ka’
With the Assembly elections round the corner, ticket-seekers are leaving nothing to chance to get highlighted in front of senior leaders. It is happening in all political parties, including the BJP and the Congress. On Sunday, at a state level traders’ programme, it was literally about “kissa kursi ka”. The stage was packed with traders’ leaders due to which some senior Congress leaders didn’t get chairs to sit. To deal with the situation, organisers immediately managed extra chairs on the stage for the leaders just ahead of the first row of the chief guest. Generally, the chairs are placed behind the chief guests in almost all the programmes. However, a Congress leader said as the number of traders on the stage swelled, extra arrangements of chairs had to be done at the last moment.
Action & suspension
The recent orders of suspension of an executive engineer of the Faridabad civic body over the alleged anomalies in the development works seem to be a direct or indirect effect of the upcoming Assembly polls. “Though complaints of poor work and irregularities in relation to sewage network and drains are common, suspension orders appear to be an attempt of the ruling party leaders to pacify residents troubled by poor services as the elections are due shortly, says a political activist. While no one has been punished in the alleged Rs 200 crore scam that rocked the civic body a couple of years ago, the suspension and cancellation of a tender worth Rs 150 crore seems to be a ploy to play smart with the sentiments of the people faced with pitiable civic amenities, says a local resident.
Karnal turns protest city
Karnal city, once a calm city of the state, has turned into a hotspot for protests. In the recent weeks, protests have become a routine, with employees from various government departments taking to the streets to press their demands. These protests, often either near the CM Camp Office or near the Mini-Secretariat, cause inconvenience. Protesters use the same routes through the city, leading to frequent disruptions in traffic. Residents living along these routes have expressed their concerns over the constant congestion.
Gurugram officials upset
With official bashing emerging as a trend ahead of the Assembly poll in Gurugram, city officials have moved to Haryana’s administrative top brass asking its intervention to get leaders to practise restrain in their speeches. The officers have expressed exception to usage of words like, “Ahmad Shah Abdali, tughlak, lootere, etc”. They have specifically named a BJP leader saying he has been issuing threats to officials.
