Faridabad: As the state Assembly elections near, leaders of political parties seem to be getting more vocal and perhaps exhibiting nervousness in their addresses also. The recent statement of a ruling party leader that ‘vote beshak mat dena, per gaali (criticism) mat dena’ left many in the audience surprised as the majority of leaders of both the ruling party and the Opposition claim that they are set to return to power on basis of their performance or on the basis on non-performance of their opponents. The statement may be a result of political frustration that has surfaced after the not-so-good performance of the ruling party in the recent Lok Sabha poll and speculation of change, making the pre-poll scenario an interesting one, remarked a political analyst.

BJP’s special focus on farmers
Kurukshetra: Facing continuous opposition from farmers in the state, the BJP seems to have decided to focus on the farming community and its pending demands in order to woo them for the Assembly election. During the ‘Vijay Shankhnaad’ rally, Haryana CM Nayab Saini made announcements related to farmers only and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also termed the BJP governments at the Centre and state as pro-farmer. He said the Haryana Government was forming policies in the favour of farmers.

Words added to woo Brahmins
Yamunanagar: Newly elected BJP state president is popularly known as Mohan Lal Badoli. Recently, he came to Yamunanagar district where he attended a workers’ meeting in Jagadhri city. When the party issued a press note of the programme, his name was written as Pandit Mohan Lal Kaushik. ‘Pandit’ and ‘Kaushik’ were added to his name. Political observers said it was a good experiment of the BJP as these two words were enough to impress the Brahmin community of the state. Brahmins commonly use ‘pandit’ along with their names and Kaushik is a ‘gotra’ among Brahmins.
