Haryana districts on alert as IMD predicts more rain

Possible waterlogging in low-lying areas; Sirsa records 130mm in past 24 hours

Haryana has experienced moderate to heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours, leading to a further drop in minimum temperatures across the state.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Sirsa recorded the highest rainfall at 130 mm, categorised as heavy rainfall. Other districts that received significant showers include Mahendragarh (66 mm), Panchkula (57 mm), Ambala (48.4 mm) and Panipat (33 mm).

Light to moderate rainfall was also recorded in several other areas, including Hisar (11.8 mm), Karnal (12.8 mm), Gurugram (9.5 mm), Jind (3.7 mm), Palwal (7 mm), and Rewari (11 mm). The rainfall has resulted in a 0.7°C drop in the average minimum temperature, although temperatures remain near normal for this time of year.

The lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded at 22.7°C in Hisar. The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in several districts, including Karnal, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Yamunanagar, Ambala, Panchkula and Chandigarh. Residents have been advised to remain alert for possible waterlogging in low-lying areas.
