Haryana farmers thrive under govt schemes, says Agriculture Minister
Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana affirmed that both the Central and state governments are implementing effective measures to benefit Haryana’s farmers, leading to significant improvements in their economic and social conditions. During his visit to the villages of Mallekan, Khari Sureran, Abubshahar and the Fruit Excellence Centre in Mangeana, Rana reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing farmers’ challenges and ensuring their prosperity.
Highlighting a significant decision by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Rana said, “Haryana now procures 24 notified crops at minimum support price (MSP), the highest in the country. This decision has considerably strengthened the economic position of our farmers.”
The minister emphasised the government’s efforts to double farmers’ income and enhance their financial well-being through various schemes. He applauded the formation of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), which enable farmers to secure better market prices for their produce. “Haryana’s farmers are setting new benchmarks with their hard work,” Rana said.
Rana urged farmers to embrace modern agricultural techniques and organic farming practices, which he said can boost profits and make Haryana a leader in agriculture, fruits and vegetables. He expressed optimism that these initiatives would also increase the state’s agricultural exports.
At Mallekan village, the minister met progressive farmer Jasjit Singh Sandhu and a group of farmers from Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana. The discussion focused on enhancing agricultural infrastructure and sharing innovative farming techniques.
Later, Rana attended a programme organised by the Farmer Producer Union in Khari Sureran village. He also visited the kinnow vaccine plant in Abubshahar, where he reviewed facilities such as fruit sorting, grading, cold rooms, pre-cooling units and transportation.
During the event, three farmers received tractors and other agricultural equipment under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture scheme.
Expressing his commitment to Haryana’s farming community, Rana said, “I understand the challenges faced by farmers and am always ready to address their concerns. Strengthening this bond of trust is our priority.”
The minister concluded by reiterating the immense potential of Haryana’s agricultural sector and the government’s focus on creating a thriving farming ecosystem in the state.
