Haryana first state in country to procure maximum crops at MSP: Agri Minister
Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana said Haryana was the first state in the country, where the maximum numbers of crops were being procured at the minimum support price (MSP).
After inaugurating mustard procurement at the Radaur grain market in Yamunanagar district on Friday at the minimum support price of Rs 5,950 per quintal, Shyam Singh Rana said he had requested Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to begin mustard procurement at the earliest.
He said responding to this request, the CM approved the procurement from March 15 onwards.
He added that Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini had also written to the Centre requesting subsidies on essential agricultural equipment.
He further said the state government had also passed farmer-friendly bills during the Budget session of the state Assembly.
During his visit at the Radaur grain market, he interacted with commission agents (arthias) to assess the status of mustard lifting, packaging availability and other challenges they faced.
He directed officials to ensure that the farmers did not have to face any difficulties in selling their crops and that procurement was completed at the earliest.
Answering media queries, Rana highlighted that the BJP-led government was actively working to address the farmers' concerns and double their income in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision.
He reiterated that the Nayab Singh Saini-led government listened to the farmers and strived to resolve their problems.
Rana urged the farmers to conserve water, diversify crops, protect the environment, and refrain from stubble burning.
He encouraged them to adopt coarse grains instead of water-intensive crops, assuring them of government assistance.
He announced that in the 2025-26 Budget, the Haryana Government had allocated a grant of Rs 8,000 per acre to farmers, who opted out of paddy cultivation.
He said that additionally, the subsidy for direct paddy seeding has been increased from Rs 4,000 to Rs 4,500 per acre.
He said the state government had set a target of expanding natural farming from 25,000 acres to 1 lakh acres in the 2025-26 Budget.
The event was attended by senior BJP leaders, workers, members of the grain market association and other dignitaries.
Later, the minister also visited Ladwa and Indri grain markets and inspected the procurement operations.
