Haryana girl ends life after ‘sexual abuse’

A Class XII student allegedly ended her life by jumping in front of a train at Gannaur on Wednesday. The victim's father alleged three youths of the village had sexually abused and harassed his daughter, forcing her to take the extreme step.

The body of the victim was handed over to her family after a medical board conducted post-mortem examination at the Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College for Women, Khanpur Kalan, on Thursday.

Based on the complaint of the victim's father, the Government Railway Police have registered a case against the three youths for allegedly sexually abusing the girl and pushing her to suicide.

The police have arrested one of the accused, Tushar, from the village.

SHO, GRP, Jogender Singh said the girl died after she jumped in front of a Vande Bharat Express train between the Gannaur and Bhodwal Majri railway stations on Wednesday.

In the complaint, the girl's father accused Tushar, Kamal and Manjeet of sexually abusing and harassing his daughter. He alleged that the suicide was a consequence of the harassment.

The SHO said a case had been registered under various provisions of the law, including the POCSO Act, and an investigation was underway.

Gannaur GRP in-charge Suresh Kumar said main accused Tushar had been arrested. Tushar was produced in a court on Thursday and remanded in judicial custody, Kumar added.
