Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij says no to Ashok Khemka's prosecution

Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, July 27

Home Minister Anil Vij has reportedly recommended to the state government that sanction should not be granted to prosecute senior IAS officer Ashok Khemka in a case related to alleged irregularities in certain appointments in the Haryana State Warehousing Corporation (HSWC).

Sources said Vij had opined that virtually no case was made out against Khemka in the absence of prior sanction from the competent authority under Section 17-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The minister is learnt to have relied on the legal opinion by Haryana Advocate General Baldev Raj Mahajan in a similar case last year in which prosecution sanction was denied in case of a DSP and a constable. The Panchkula police registered a case against Khemka over alleged irregularities in HSWC appointments in 2010 during his tenure as its MD.
