Gurugram, August 11
“It was the Hooda government prior to 2014 that needs to be credited for the state winning five out of the six medals in the Olympics this year. The Congress government’s state policy nurtured and promoted talent. It made a ready goldmine of sporting talent through ‘Padak Lao, Pad Pao’ sports policy for the benefit of players. The BJP government diluted it and hit the morale of sportspersons,” said Rohtak Member of Parliament Deepender Hooda while addressing his “Haryana Mange Hisab” campaign in Pataudi today.
Deepender said it was sad that for the past 10 years, the BJP government of Haryana had stopped the “Padak Lao-Pad Pao” policy. He said if we want to win medals, the sports policy of the Congress’ Hooda government will have to be implemented across the country.
He alleged discrimination against Haryana in Khelo India budget, saying only 3 per cent, or Rs 65 crore budget was given to it, while Gujarat got a budget of Rs 600 crore and UP got more than Rs 500 crore. He also pointed out that 21 per cent of the players participating in the Olympics were from Haryana. In the last four Olympics, Asian and Commonwealth Games, 40 per cent to 50 per cent medals for the country were won by Haryana players. He claimed that during Hooda’s tenure as CM, more than 750 players were given direct jobs of DSP, inspector, sub-inspector and other government posts.
Referring to the poor condition of roads in the Pataudi constituency, he said it was not clear whether there were potholes in road or road in potholes. “The arrangements for clean drinking water, sewerage, sanitation are in a bad state. There is no water in the canal. The bypass that was to be built here could not be built in the BJP rule,” he stated.
Deepender said the BJP has ruined the state in 10 years. “During the Congress government, we made a lot of efforts and got the Indian National Defense University approved in Gurugram, but the BJP government took away the university to Gujarat,” he stated.
Sonepat: Deepender Hooda on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the government, asking the state government as to how the outstanding debt on the state had gone up to Rs 4.5 lakh crore in 10 years, even though the government did not do any work in the state.
Deepender Hooda on Sunday took out a padyatra in Kharkhoda Assembly constituency under the ‘Haryana Maange Hisaab’ campaign. The yatra started from Purva Vatika (Sampla Road) and ended at Ambedkar Chowk via Matindu Chowk, Delhi Chowk, Brahmin Chowk near Amar Hospital. While addressing the gathering, Hooda said it was the duty of the government to give account of the public's money.
Deepender said only 29 days of BJP's government were left in Haryana. “People have made up their mind to vote out this government. That is why the BJP government has been making announcements one after the other, but this is only an admission that the BJP has not done any work in the last 10 years,” he stated.
