The Haryana Government has amended the procedure to constitute the District Planning Committees.

With the Haryana Constitution of District Planning Committee (Amendment) Rules, 2024 coming into force, now five members in the 25-member committee will be nominated by the state government. These include Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, District Town Planner, District Municipal Commissioner and one person out of eminent persons and professionals having experience in planning.

Similarly, in case of 20-member committee, four members shall be nominated by the state government. They include Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, District Town Planner and District Municipal Commissioner. In this committee, one person out of eminent economists or professionals having experience in planning may be nominated as a consultant. Members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and MLAs shall be special invitees to the meetings of the committee but they shall be special invitees only in one such committee. The MPs and MLAs, whose constituencies fall in more than one district, shall have the option to choose one such committee, the rules said.
