Gets score card of 46.7among 29 states with remarkable outcome Tribune News Service

Achieving another milestone, Haryana has been ranked first under theAnemia Mukt Bharat (AMB) programme. In the programme, launched by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and UNICEF, the state has been ranked first among 29 states in the country.
Haryana Women and Child Development Minister Kamlesh Dhanda said Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had startedAtal Abhiyaan—assuring total anemia limit — in Haryana in April 2018. Under this, a plan had been announced to reduce anemia in Haryana on the lines ofAnemia Mukt Bharat, which has had a remarkable outcome. A score card has been released in this regard by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, wherein Haryana has been given a score of 46.7 and has been placed at the top.
She said the Central and the state governments were committed to developing Haryana into a healthy state by getting rid of malnutrition among children and women, which had yielded positive results. The aim of the nutrition campaign is to fulfil the nutritional requirements of pregnant women and children. Apart from this, it also aims at reducing the maternal mortality rate and infant mortality rate, she asserted.
She said during the nutrition fortnight, the Department of Women and Child Development organised a nutrition pledge, nutrition meeting by village panchayats, organised community programmes at the Anganwadi centres, Hb check-up of children upto six years of age and women, cycle rally at the block level, distribution of iron tablets, vaccination through Prabhatpheri, weight and height check-up and disseminating information about nutritious diet for pregnant women during pregnancy.
Women suffering from malnutrition and anemia are being benefited from this campaign. She said under the nutrition campaign, people were made aware of malnutrition and anemia through Anganwadi workers.
