Haryana shivers as minimum temperature dips below 5°C
Sonepat emerged as coldest district, recording low of 3.1°C
Residents across most of the districts in Haryana experienced a bone-chilling morning as minimum temperatures fell below 5°C. The cold winds increased the chill, marking one of the coldest mornings of the season.
As per the data of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the average minimum temperature in the state dropped by 2.1°C on Thursday, compared to Wednesday. Despite the sharp decline, the overall temperatures remain near normal for this time of year.
Sonepat emerged as the coldest district, recording a low of 3.1°C. Other districts also reported significantly low temperatures. Hisar and Karnal recorded 3.5°C each, while Mahendragarh experienced 3.8°C. Hisar’s second recorded temperature was 4.2°C, with Jind and Panipat at 4.3°C each.
Bhiwani reported 4.9°C, and Sirsa and Kurukshetra at 5°C each. Rohtak recorded 5.7°C, Faridabad 7.1°C, Yamunanagar 7.4°C, and Ambala 7.6°C, the data said.
As experts predict the cold wave is expected to persist in the coming days also, residents are advised to take necessary precautions against further dip in temperature.
