Various farm unions from Haryana, which are also constituents of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), have opened a front against the state government for sealing the borders and other highways to prevent Punjab farmers from going to Delhi.

They have called an emergency meeting in Jind tomorrow to decide the next course of action against the government in view of the problems being faced by common man following the blockade of borders and highways at various places beside suspension of mobile Internet and bulk message services in the seven districts located on the Punjab-Haryana border.

“The meeting has been scheduled in Jind after discussing the prevailing situation with leaders of the farm unions. A total of 16 farm unions in the state are the constituents of the SKM and leaders of all these unions will attend the meeting to take decision against the autocratic attitude of the state government against the protesting farmers,” said Inderjit Singh, a senior leader of SKM Haryana.

Singh said they were farmers not terrorists. They wanted to go to Delhi to raise their concern before the Centre but the Haryana Government was leaving no chance to commit atrocities on the farmers. Resentment prevailed among people across the state against police brutalities in the form of lobbying of tear gas shells and firing of rubber bullets on protesters, he claimed.

Sources said the SKM Haryana might take the decision of taking out a protest march at every district headquarters in coming days against the state government for the sealing of borders and suspension of mobile Internet services. Officer-bearers of various trade unions are likely to participate at the meeting.

Meanwhile, All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) has appealed to the farmers and other sections of Haryana to effectively raise their voice demanding reopening of roads, withdrawal of police, restoration of Internet services and free movement of people and transport on the highways passing through Haryana.
