Haryana to develop 10 new integrated industrial townships along highways
Haryana is set to move forward with its plan to establish 10 integrated industrial townships across the state, fulfilling a key promise made by the BJP in its Assembly election manifesto. The government has already identified 10 strategic zones along major expressways and highways and initiated discussions to finalise the framework for development.
Key highlights of plan
Strategic locations: New Gurugram, Hisar, Sirsa, Greater Faridabad, Bhiwani, Narnaul, Jind, Kaithal & Ambala
Govt push: Three zones to be developed on a pilot basis
Connectivity focus: Areas selected near highways and expressway junctions
Survey for expansion: More districts to be considered beyond the initial 10
Blueprint deadline: One month set by CM Nayab Singh Saini
Industries Minister Rao Narbir Singh confirmed the progress, stating that the townships would be developed along three key highways and expressways. “We want these zones to come up in areas along the highway or at points where two highways intersect since connectivity is a crucial factor in the success of any industrial zone. We are looking at areas along the National Expressway 5 between Delhi and Katra, the Narnaul-Ambala Expressway 152D and the proposed Dabwali-Panipat Highway, among others,” he told The Tribune.
According to sources, a meeting has already taken place between the Haryana Government and NITI Aayog to finalise potential locations for the townships. The identified pockets include New Gurugram, Hisar (near the airport), Sirsa (on the newly proposed Dabwali-Panipat Highway), Greater Faridabad (leveraging proximity to Jewar Airport), Bhiwani (on National Highway 709), Narnaul (near the upcoming logistics hub), Jind, Kaithal, and Ambala.
Sources added that Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini recently convened a high-level meeting to discuss the project, directing officials to develop at least three such industrial zones on a pilot basis. He has set a deadline of one month for finalising the blueprint.
While Gurugram and Faridabad offer strong industrial potential, officials have also been instructed to survey inner Haryana for additional townships beyond the 10 initially planned. “The survey will ensure that other districts, which may have been left out, are also considered for industrial parks and zones, depending on land availability,” an official said.
With Haryana’s strategic location as a logistics and manufacturing hub, these industrial townships are expected to generate employment, boost investment and enhance the state's economic profile.
