Haryana’s budding athletes lauded for sportsmanship
The two-day inter-PM Shri government school sports meet concluded at Karna Stadium here on Tuesday.
An award ceremony was organised, in which Samagra Shiksha District Project Coordinator Jyotsna Mishra honoured the winners with medals and certificates. She recognised the efforts of the participants, officials and staff members who contributed to the success of the event.
Mishra said athletes and their coaches from various regions of the state displayed true sportsmanship during the competition.
“Sports should always be played in the spirit of the game. Even if one does not secure victory, the experience gained through participation lays the foundation for future success,” she added.
In the discus throw (classes X-XII girls’) category, Vanshika of Charkhi Dadri won the first prize, while Ritu of Jind secured the second position and Monika of Bhiwani bagged the bronze.
In the 200-m girls’ race, Vanshika of Bhiwani secured the first position, while Gunjan of Rewari secured the second place and Lakshmi of Fatehabad bagged the third position. In the boys’ race, Jatin of Kurukshetra won the first prize, while Piyush Kataria secured the second position.
In the high jump (class X-XII boys’) category, Harsh of Rewari bagged the gold, Mohit of Sirsa the silver and Mandeep Singh of Kaithal the bronze.
In the discus throw (class VI-VII boys’) category, Sahraj of Jhajjar won the first prize, Sahil of Fatehabad the second and Ansh of Faridabad the third.
In the 200-m (class VI-VIII boys’) race, Krishan of Yamunanagar won the first prize, while Piyush of Gurugram stood second and Prem of Fatehabad third. In the girls’ race, Kiran of Bhiwani won the first prize, while Neetu of Sonepat bagged the second and Renuka of Sirsa the third.
In the 100-m race, Harmanjot of Fatehabad, Mehak of Jind and Khwahish of Hisar won the first, second and third positions, respectively.
In the relay race (class VI-VIII boys’), the Nuh team secured the first position, with Gurugram and Hisar following in the second and third places, respectively.
In the relay race (class VI-VIII boys’), the Yamunanagar team won the first prize, while the Sirsa team secured the second position and the Jhajjar team stood third.
