Haryana's daughter makes it big in Delhi politics

Haryana’s daughters continue to make the state proud. When first-time MLA Rekha Gupta was sworn in as Delhi’s new chief minister, the state celebrated the meteoric rise of its daughter. It was celebration time at Nandgarh village in Jind, where Rekha was born, and at Bond Kalan in Charkhi Dadri, her in-laws’ village.

Rekha follows in the footsteps of Sushma Swaraj and Arvind Kejriwal, the former Delhi CMs, who also hailed from Haryana.

For Chief Minister Nayab Saini and the BJP government, it was a time to rejoice as the saffron party was able to replicate its Haryana model in the national capital. The stakes were high for the BJP government in the run-up to the Delhi assembly polls as over 100 senior BJP leaders from Haryana toiled in the Delhi polls for weeks highlighting the achievements of the double-engine government and the Haryana model of ‘no kharchi, no parchi’ (no cash for jobs).

Following the Delhi win, the icing on the cake was the appointment of prominent BJP politician from Haryana OP Dhankar as the central observer for choosing the Delhi chief minister. As Rekha’s name was announced, the video of Dhankar hugging her and giving ‘shagun’ to Haryana's daughter’ went viral.

Now, with the BJP governments in Delhi and Haryana, there is a renewed hope that the inter-state issues between the neighbouring states would be resolved amicably.

The supply of alleged polluted Yamuna water from Haryana to Delhi and the recurrent pollution issue between the neighbouring states would now be resolved in a cordial manner.

Besides, the connectivity issues between the National Capital Territory and the Haryana districts falling within the National Capital Region would also be resolved on a priority basis. After all, the people of the neighbouring states, who share ‘roti, beti ka rishta’, deserve a better governance and a better future.
