A panchayat of Kandela khap held at the historic Kandela Khap chabutra at Kandela village of Jind district made an appeal to the government to ban gun culture, drugs, and live-in relationships.

The proposal was put forward by khap panchayat vice-president Dayanand Redhu which received unanimous support from the Khap members. The event also focused on the preservation of Haryanvi culture, language, and traditional values while celebrating the contributions of artistes who promote these ideals.

Renowned Haryanvi artist Ramkesh Jeevanpuriya, a native of Jeevanpur village which is part of the Kandela Khap, was the chief guest at the meeting. Jeevanpuriya said the singers should avoid vulgar and gun culture lyrics, urging artists to contribute positively to society through their music. He called for the formation of a censorship committee to regulate song lyrics and ensure that Haryanvi music remains a medium of social and moral upliftment.

To honour his contributions, Kandela Khap bestowed upon Jeevanpuriya a turban and a statue of legendary folk artist Dada Lakhmichand, acknowledging him as a pillar of Haryanvi cultural heritage. Expressing his gratitude, Jeevanpuriya said such recognitions served as a motivation for artistes and the younger generation to uphold traditional values.

Redu raised the demand for banning gun culture, drug abuse, and live-in relationships, stating it had a negative impact on society. His statement was met with strong approval from khap members, who stressed the need to preserve social harmony and ethical values.
