The agitating students of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) called off their 21-day dharna on Tuesday night after reaching an agreement with the district administration.

The breakthrough came after the local MLA arrived at the protest site and formally announced that the students' key demands would be accepted. The announcement followed a meeting between student representatives and district officials, which both sides described as constructive. The students expressed satisfaction with the outcome and welcomed the administration’s assurances.

The protest began on June 10, following an incident in which university officials and security personnel allegedly assaulted students who were peacefully demonstrating on the campus. The incident triggered widespread anger, prompting hundreds of students to stage a prolonged sit-in.

According to sources, the government has agreed to initiate an inquiry into the conduct of the Vice-Chancellor and the assault on the students. While several other demands—such as the transfer of the Chief Security Officer and a few other university officials—have reportedly been accepted, insiders indicated that the Vice-Chancellor is unlikely to proceed on leave, which had been the students' primary demand.
