Haryana Governor-cum-Chancellor of Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS), Rohtak, Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh, visited the university on Saturday.

He interacted with the faculty members and assured the authorities of all possible help from the state government for the development of the university.

The Governor stated that he had spoken to the Chief Minister about increasing the budget for the healthcare and education sectors. He also announced a grant of Rs 5 lakh for the university.

Ghosh also visited the Civil Hospital at Rohtak and interacted with the staff members as well as patients undergoing treatment there.

The Governor, who was accompanied by his wife Mitra Ghosh, planted a sapling on the hospital premises.

The Governor and his wife also visited the Government Girls Senior Secondary School at Kharawar village in Rohtak district earlier in the day.

The villagers honoured the Governor with a turban as a mark of respect. He was also presented with a hand-drawn painting, a shawl and a sapling. The district officials also presented a memento, a shawl and a sapling to the Governor's wife.

The Governor inspected the school premises, interacted with students of primary classes and tasted mid-day meal. He also announced a grant of Rs 5 lakh for the school. Ghosh exhorted the students to study hard and achieve higher goals in life. He visited the stalls set up by the Education Department on the school premises.

The Governor appreciated the achievements of the Haryana Nipun Mission after inspecting the toilets, library, science and mathematics laboratories, mid-day meal kitchen and kitchen garden at the school. He also praised the maintenance of cleanliness and provision of good facilities at the school.
