The police have registered a case against an officer of the Health Department on charges of sexual harassment, stalking and the SC/ST Act. On the complaint of a woman doctor posted at a government hospital in the district, a case was registered against the officer at Women police station on September 22.
The complainant alleged that a senior officer of the department used words that were extremely offensive to any female employee in conversation. She further alleged that he often called her into his office for no reason and she felt scared before going to his office.
She alleged that he had also made casteist remarks against her.
“On September 20, he called on my mobile phone several times. During the phone call, he made obscene remarks and sexually abusive comments and used inappropriate language,” she alleged.
She said she told her mother about it, and they recorded the conversations. She also handed over a pen drive of recording as evidence to the police.
Meanwhile, the officer told the media that the allegations levelled against him were baseless.
