Karnal, February 23
The last Budget of the second tenure of the BJP government has given the hope of boosting infrastructure in Karnal and Kaithal, with a slew of projects aimed at enhancing connectivity, healthcare facilities and urban amenities in both districts.
Infra upgrade on the cards
- Rly lines have been announced between Karnal-Indri and Yamunanagar.
- Kaithal district will have an elevated railway track, permanent helipad and a vertical farming centre will come up in Cheeka.
- A 30-bed hospital by the Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has been proposed for Karnal.
Railway lines have been announced between Karnal-Indri and Yamunanagar, while a 30-bed hospital by the Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has been proposed for Karnal. Kaithal district will have an elevated railway track, permanent helipad and a vertical farming centre will come up in Cheeka.
One of the major projects in the pipeline for the past several years is the construction of the Karnal-Yamunanagar railway line, spanning over 60 km. In the Budget speech on Friday, the CM reiterated that Northern Railway was preparing a detailed project report (DPR) on the basis of a feasibility study conducted by Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited.
In a bid to bolster healthcare in both districts, the CM announced a 30-bed hospital of the ESIC and new ESIC dispensaries in Gharaunda and Kaithal district during the fiscal 2024-25.
“An ESIC hospital is a long-standing demand of the employees and we are happy the CM has promised the opening of a hospital in Karnal city which will help the employees get treatment,” said Suresh Kumar, an employee.
Besides, the CM announced to start training facility for Home Guards and civil defence volunteers in Hasanpur village Gharaunda.
Karnal will also got its share in sports as the CM announced a speed-climbing sports event which will be included in the Paris Olympic Games-2024. However, opposition leaders said that it was not enough for both the districts.
Shamsher Singh Gogi, Congress MLA from Assandh, said the demand was to have railway lines between Safidon-Karnal-Yamunanagar via Assandh, but this was not considered. Elevated railway lines in Kaithal were announced earlier. The government should work on previous announcements before announcing new, he added.
