High-tension wire falls on terrace, 7 hurt
Panipat, January 3
A high-tension wire broke and fell down on the terrace of a house where three families were enjoying the sun in the city’s Baljeet Nagar area here on Friday. Five children and two women were injured and rushed to the General Hospital with electric burn injuries, from where doctors referred a child to PGIMS Rohtak.
The injured have been identified as Sarim Khatoon (25), Fatima Khatoon (4), Gulshan (3), Lado (10), Sahteem Raja (two and a half month), Shabana (32) and Sania (12). The families hailed from Aurangabad in Bihar and were living in rented accommodation and working as labourers in textile units.
Members of three families were sitting on the terrace when a JCB machine passing through the street ripped some electricity wires that snapped and touched high-tension wires crossing the area. A loud blast was heard as the wires fell on the terrace resulting in the victims suffering electric burns. — TNS
