Residents of Sector 17 in Gurugram are having a harrowing time owing to the alleged high-voltage power supply.

They have moved the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), alleging that constant wattage in their meters is 250 or above, which was damaging many appliances each day. The residents said despite repeated complaints, no action had been taken in this regard so far.

“We don’t know what’s the issue? Suddenly one day, we woke up to high voltage in our meters and it has been constant. Resident groups are full of complaints about damaged fridges, microwaves and even ACs. I have been taking it up with the DHBVN authorities, but till date, have got no answer or solution,” said RWA president Rakesh Jinsi.

The residents claimed that the DHBVN officials had not even once inspected the power lines, and they feared it might lead to short circuit.

“We are senior citizens and scared. Our power points had sparking on multiple occasions and electricity bulbs have literally blasted. We have been calling helpline number, but of no use,” said Rakesh Chahar, an ex-serviceman residing in Sector 17-A .

DHBVN MD PC Meena said he would immediately look into the issue and get it resolved. — TNS
