HINDI WRITING COMPETITION HELD

Karnal: DAV Police Public School, Madhuban, organised a Hindi writing competition. Mahatma Gandhi National Language, Hindi organisation, Pune, organised the event. In the competition, 500 students participated and 10 won medals as well as certificates. Principal Mantoshpal Singh distributed awards and medals to the meritorious students and praised the organisers of the event for their efforts. Certificates were distributed among the participants and students from every class won the medal. The school was awarded for being the best school and its principal, too, was awarded for being the best principal. Singh focused that such competitions should be organised in schools from time to time to protect Hindi language.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY seminar

Rohtak: Research is a process that involves reaching out to new frontiers of knowledge, developing critical thinking, going beyond the confines of prescribed texts and undertaking a journey to know oneself. This was stated by Prof Akshay Kumar, eminent scholar, and a senior faculty member at the department of English and Cultural Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh, at a workshop on ‘areas and methodology of research’. The department of English and Foreign Languages at Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, organised the session. Professor Kumar urged the research scholars to ensure maintaining credibility in their research work. He said films, graphic arts, cartoons, comics and graffiti etc could be the new areas in the future where one could explore and experiment. Head of the host department Professor Loveleen said the workshop had been organised to orient the research scholars about various facets of research and fundamentals of research methodology.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS workshop

Kurukshetra: The department of humanities and social sciences, NIT, Kurukshetra, organised a one-week workshop on professional communication skills and work culture (PCWC-2019). The objective was to enable participants to understand the importance of interpersonal skills in their professional and personal lives and work on their interpersonal competence so that they can be prepared for the everyday challenges in the workplace. Dr Brahmjit Singh, director, NIT, Kurukshetra, was the chief guest. He emphasised the need of developing effective communication skills and creating a conducive work culture for the staff of the institute. He congratulated workshop convener Prof Vikas Choudhary and coordinator Dr Shahida on taking the initiative of organising the workshop. Prof SD Sharma, former vice-chancellor, HP University, Shimla, stressed the need to understand the role of effective communication skills, along with soft skills, in professional success.

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

Sonepat: Artificial intelligence will play an important role in increasing the GDP of the country, as we will have more agricultural produce at a lower cost. This was stated by director of the PITE, Samalkha (Panipat), Shakti Kumar, who was also the key-note speaker at the faculty development programme. The electronics and communication department of the DCR University of Science and Technology, Murthal, organised the event. Kumar said the country should take full advantage of the fourth industrial revolution through artificial intelligence, robotics, automation, healthcare, business and agriculture sectors.

CHANDRAYAAN-2 MODEL by students

Kaithal: Class VIII students-Meena, Lucky and Bhoomi-of MDN Public School, Kalayat, have prepared a model of Chandrayaan-2. Science and arts faculty members helped and guided the students in making the model. The school students watched the model with a keen interest and were curious to know about its functioning. Founder of the school Dr Vijay Kansal; director Nisha Kansal; principal Sunita Kansal; vice-principal Amandeep Kaur and other teachers lauded the efforts of students and motivated them to concentrate on research in science.
